Background: 

On August 9th 2025 a peaceful protest was held in the Outer Banks to support survivors of Sexual assault and to bring awareness of how sexual assault cases were being handled by District Attorney Jeffrey Cruden.

After the Protest flyers were sent out regarding this issue and regarding DA Cruden’s handling of Survivor X (AKA Melissa Nicholson)’s Sexual assault case.

The Flyer asked people to call or email DA Cruden 
DA Cruden responded to these emails with untrue statements about a victim of sexual assault, Melissa Nicholson.
